While there are many reasons to visit Cabo San Lucas, from dolphin and whale watching to bike tours, from museums to canyon adventures, one of the more delectable aspects of a Cabo getaway is the abundance of delicious dining choices.

For instance, Hacienda Cocina y Cantina merges traditional Mexican architecture with casual beachfront dining for an elegant, laid-back experience. Reportedly, it’s home to the greatest burrito ever made. Vagabundos del Mar Trailer Park Restaurant is exactly what it sounds like – a restaurant that can be found in a trailer park. But visitors will also discover a great menu loaded with humor (the seafood entrees are listed under “Splash!”, while the beef dishes are filed under “Moo!”) and terrific treats.
With its location at the tip of Baja California, it’s no surprise that seafood reigns supreme in Cabo. Mariscos La Palmita offers terrific value and exceptional food, ranging from fried red snapper to shrimp empanadas to marlin tacos. And be sure to sample the vast array of appetizers. Perhaps more widely known for its Bulldog margarita, Maro’s Shrimp House is a fun experience with a dynamic assortment of seafood dishes, including jumbo shrimp in garlic butter and lobster tail.
But just because you’re in Mexico, don’t imagine that you can’t find other international flavors. Invita Bistro, for example, offers great original southern Italian and Mediterranean cuisine with a European touch. The menu features a variety of homemade, fresh-cooked dishes derived from generations-old family recipes, accompanied by an extensive selection of national and international wines and fun, Italian-inspired cocktails. Misiones de Kino, which was designed as an early Baja mission, unites Mexican, Italian and seafood dishes in a unique culinary experience. The restaurant is also known for its unique Chilpalla Sauce – a bold and daring mixture of garlic, chili and herbs in a delicate white sauce – which can be smothered over fresh seafood, chicken and pasta.
Patagonia Restaurant is an Argentinean steakhouse that is a meat lover’s paradise, with numerous patrons singing the ribeye’s praises. For an eclectic mix under one roof, there’s Doggy Style. From hot dogs made from scratch to chicken shawarma to poutine, this unique eatery is an around-the-world delight. VFraiche takes a fast, fresh and healthy approach to food, which isn’t surprising when you discover that the restaurant was founded by a fitness trainer and a certified nutritionist.
And, if what you’re after is nourishment of the liquid kind, be sure to stop by the Monkey Business Bar, which is repeatedly honored as having the best margaritas in Cabo. The drinks are made with fresh ingredients – like fresh squeezed orange juice for the margaritas, lime juice and muddled mint for the amazing mojitos, and fresh banana for the namesake Monkey Business blend. No food and no frills, but a most memorable place to get your drink on. If you prefer to snack along with your cocktails, there’s the Happy Ending Cantina, which has the best prices in town on everything from margaritas and tequila to carne asada tacos.
