National Harvest & Cowboy Festival: September 16 to October 31

Autumn in Branson is a beautiful time of year, as the Ozark Hills burst into colorful splendor. It is also one of the most exciting times of year – a true celebration of American craftsmanship – as artisans from around the country gather at Silver Dollar City to demonstrate their trades as part of the National Harvest & Cowboy Festival.

The Festival harkens back to the pioneer days, as dozens of demonstrating craftsmen create works of art ranging from fiddle making and weaving to soap making and jewelry, all with period-correct costumes and tools. Bluegrass and folk bands play traditional tunes that would have been the soundtrack to the cowboy days of old. Dancers and other performers put on interpretive shows that evoke the pioneer spirit. The food is modern, though festivalgoers may be able to catch a few frontier cooking workshops demonstrating cast-iron skillet or dutch oven recipes.

On a typical day, Silver Dollar City has Master Craftsmen demonstrating a number of crafts such as glass-blowing, candle making, pottery making, culinary arts and many more. During the National Harvest Festival over 130 additional visiting craftsmen from all over the country join them to demonstrate their art or craft. These range from painting to Native American flutes, knife making, pumpkin carving and the “Made In Missouri Juried Exhibit & Sale” featuring “Best of Missouri Hands Artists” and many more.

The festival offers plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy, including:

  • The Wild West Show, back by popular demand with cowboys, horses and Native American dancers
  • The Barn Dance… bigger and better than ever
  • Buck Taylor’s Cowboy Emporium and more!

Combined with Silver Dollar City’s entertaining shows, mouth-watering restaurants and exciting rides and attractions, you can count on the whole family finding some great autumn fun.

So if you’re interested crafting your vacation plans to include a trip to Branson, the National Harvest & Cowboy Festival runs from September 16th to October 31st. To learn more, check out the video below (from the 2013 Festival) and feel free to contact us at info@takethreenights.com.
